Solomon Island Orchids part 2

Solomon Island Orchids part 2

Four stamps issued by Solomon Islands in 1989, featuring native orchid species:
Dendrobium conanthum - a large, hot-to-warm growing tropical epiphyte. It features long, vertical cane-like pseudobulbs and sports striking, wide-open yellowish-green to bronze flowers. It thrives native to the lowlands and coastal mangrove swamps across the Solomon Islands, New Guinea, and Vanuatu

Dendrobium plicatum - Known for its beautifully textured or folded lip structures, this species is a classic representative of the dense tropical orchid habitats native to the region.

Dendrobium goldii -  This stunning "antelope-type" orchid was first discovered in the Solomon Islands in 1864 by collector John Gould Veitch. It is a large, robust epiphyte that produces long, arching stems covered in multi-colored flowers ranging from greenish-white with vibrant purple accents to rich golden brown.

Dendrobium goldfinchii - a lowland epiphytic orchid native to the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Samoa, and neighboring regions. The blossoms are typically pale greenish with a faint tinge of yellow. Individual flowers are relatively small, usually measuring around 3/8 of an inch (about 9 mm) in diameter.
