Fish series - Parrotfish

Parrotfish painted for Air Vanuatu inflight information and magazine.

Features a mosaic of turquoise, pink, green, and orange scales with large, detailed fins and a coral backdrop.

These beautiful rainbow-colored reef fish use their strong, beak-like teeth to bite off chunks of coral. They grind it up, digest the algae inside, digest it and release it out as fine, soft sand.

A single parrotfish can produce hundreds of kilos of sand every year  - literally helping build the paradise we all walk on. So next time you’re sinking your toes into Vanuatu’s beaches, you can thank the humble parrotfish!
